There is much more to say about this piano but I will let the pictures speak for themselves. click here for high resolution photos wiht more detailst. Naturally I welcome out of town visitors. Ft Lauderdale Airport is 20 mins away. Please take your time looking at these pictures,
since it is highly unlikely you will ever see another.

The time, 1860 James Buchanan was in his last year of presidency as Abraham Lincoln was the President elect. This was when this piano was delivered to it's first owner. Originally in Ebony the piano was found in Italy in 2000, imported to the United States where it sat in a warehouse for years before being sent to Poland for a 2 year restoration process that transformed this piano into the Masterpiece you see here.
NO expense ws spared since many aspects of the piano were recreated with new materials to give it the integrity of a brand new piano. All legs were duplicated so what you see is new (2 original legs come with the piano and are identical in design and spec. They were just too deteriorated to be restored). Music Stand and Lyre are also new replications. Bubinga Red Mahogany was chosen as the veneer and gives the piano a stunning appearance. Please pay close attention to photographs, the detail on this piano is unmatched in any restoration I have ever seen. The design on the plate is original. The complexity in this rebuilding is only mastered by the finest piano rebuilders of Europe. The original action and damper mechanism was recreated as needed in order to return it to new in 1860. Detailed photos of the interior reveal the brand new bridges and sophisticated damper mechanism that allows the extra 4th string on every note vibrate sympathetically with the rest.
The piano plays as new, but that is as new in 1860. Keep in mind the design of the grand piano was not yet perfected to the standards we have today.
