This option gives your piano features of a digital piano including the ability to play silently, with the piano's sound heard only through headphones. Whether you live in an apartment, like to practice late at night after the family has gone to bed, or simply like to play or practice in private, QuietTime GT will fill your needs, and still let you maintain the touch you love with your acoustic piano.
By moving a small lever underneath the keyboard, the QuietTime GT activates a mute rail so that the hammers no longer hit the strings when the keys are depressed. Instead, sensors under each key make the piano play digitally using an external sound module, which is provided by the customer. The piano can be heard in one of two ways: through headphones for a private performance, or aloud over amplified speakers. The piano can be played silently or as loudly as amplified speakers permit. In addition to muting the acoustic piano, the QuietTime GT system also functions as a MIDI Controller so the user can send keyboard and pedal data to computers, digital keyboards, sequencers and other MIDI devices. The QuietTime GT retrofit system includes: power supply, 10 ft. long 5-pin MIDI cable, MIDI strip, 3 pedal switches, MIDI board with cover, headphones and special mute rail. A sound module is not provided with the system, so you can choose your own external sound module, use a computer or other MIDI device. The QuietTime GT system also supports soft pedal, sostenuto pedal and sustain pedal functions.
